• De-oiling / Oil Removal

There are different methods for separation of suspended oil from water.

  • Coalescence oil removal: In certain industries such as oil refineries and petrochemical plants, considerable volume of condensate is contaminated with hydrocarbons, making this condensate unacceptable for reuse as boiler feed water.

KPE co-current coalescence process using oleophilic (oil attracting) property of coalescer resin specially developed for the continuous treatment of oily water.

The oily water passes through the resin bed from bottom to top. Resin beads adsorb oil on their surface, which forms a film around the beads and progressively grow to make droplets. When the droplets have reached a critical size, they float to the top pf the coalescer where they are removed by skimmer. The broken film around the resin beads grows again and the process continues indefinitely. This is a self-regeneration process. The treated water is recovered continuously at a lower level.

  • API Separator: KPE API oil/water separators are a gravity differential separation device for removal of free and finely dispersed oil droplets from oily waste streams. The design follows the American Petroleum Institute’s API#421 Design & Operation of Oil/Water Separators Manual, February 1990. API performance: 100mg/L, 150-micron free, dispersed and non-emulsified oil droplets. The typical use of the API separator is to reduce inlet loads of oil and suspended solids in refinery wastewater. Following the API further treatment may be required, i.e. coalescing oil water separator as a polishing step and treatment of dissolved organic materials with biological treatment, and/or other treatment technologies (DAF etc.).
